Adam Wes Academics Tutoring Makobi Scribe

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 7:17 pm

We would like to extend our thanks to the wonderful site, Makobi Scribe, that brought their talents to a remarkable article on Adam Wes Academics.

Here it is:

If you have children struggling in school, you have probably looked into a tutor to help your child learn the difficult subjects. I know that when I was a kid, math was a difficult subject for me to grasp; and if I would have had a tutor, my later-year’s classes would have been easier. I would want my child to have the best possible chance at getting a good education and retaining that knowledge, especially, with these trying times we are going through.

Adam Wes Academics  is a professional math tutoring and science tutoring service that comes to you in your home. The Adam Wes Academics tutors implement an active teaching technique called Progressive Dynamic Response (PDR) that  progressively enhances a student’s understanding of material by testing performed with questions designed to measure the students comprehension of the entire subject. What is notable about this concept is that the tutors do not just rely on the students to absorb the information but make sure that they are engaged and actively learning. I like how Adam Wes Academics engages and interacts constantly testing to see if the information being taught is actually learned. So many times, teachers just spit out knowledge that they have without ever knowing if the child is actually learning. At Adam Wes Academics, their tutors are pulled from PhDs, professors or Masters Students from prestigious institutions such as Caltech, MIT, and Harvard.

Adam Wes Academics has a math tutor available for the following subjects: algebra tutoringgeometry tutoring, trigonometry tutoring, precalculus tutoring, AP statistics tutoringAP calculus tutoring, multivariable calculus tutoring, differential equations, linear algebra, and more advanced math topics. In addition to math tutoring, Adam Wes Academics also tutors the following science subjects: AP biology tutoring, AP physics tutoringAP chemistry tutoring, anatomy physiology tutoring, astronomy, earth science, and more.

If you have been searching for tutoring online, Adam Wes Academics has several locations of quality tutors able to engage and enrich your child’s grasp of math and science.  Check to see if there is a location near you. You can find Adam Wes Academics on Twitter at @adamwestutors or Facebook. They also have a free tutoring help group for students have a question on their homework that they are stuck on.

An article by a positive role model

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 3:20 am

We stumbled across none other than Miss Kathleen LeBlanc this week and she so kindly wrote about Adam Wes Academics here.

In addition, she is running for Miss New York 2012 and she has a great Facebook page that you can follow with her.

So creative:

1st period at 7:30am?! Aghhhhhhhh!!!  It’s back to school time and I don’t know how that rings in your ears but the bells are back!  Personally, I am not going back just yet but in a way I will be because I am a tutor.  I help students with literature and mathematics.  I have found that most of my students struggle more with math.  What’s your relationship with math like?
Growing up, my least favorite subjects were math and science but I actually graduated with a BS in Biology, go figure!  Honestly, after I received a little one-on-one time with a more knowledgeable person, I realized that I could do it and in turn loved it.  Now I am not saying that you have to fall in love but I want to let you know that you can do it too! How you ask?
I have discovered a tutoring program called Adam Wes Academics.  This program concentrates on the two subjects students tend to find most challenging, math and science.  The company is based out in California, but has sites across the United States.  Also, it’s never too early or too late to get the help you need to move forward so AWA begins tutoring at the elementary level through College.  I like the fact that AWA explains their methods of tutoring, (which as an educator I can vouch are effective), so that you know what services to expect.  I also appreciate the photos and information on the tutors because meeting and trusting someone new in a short period of time can be nerve racking.  I am begging you as I tell my students the same, PLEASE DO NOT wait until you receive bad grades before asking for help.  That can be the difference between an A or an F for the course.  If math and/or science are not your thing, check out Adam Wes Academics at www.adamwes.com.  Let me know what you think!
Happy New School Year!!
XOXO,
Kathleen

Work At Home Moms Agree Adam Wes Is Perfect For Your Child

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 6:27 pm

Today we are on the homepage of WAHMresourcesite.com. Very exciting. If it is no longer on the homepage- you can find the article here or see it poster below:

Why tutor? For most, tutoring is the answer to a problem when in actuality, tutoring can be used to prevent that problem in the first place. Tutoring allows for a foundation of knowledge to be strong and concrete prior to ever expanding, this way a student doesn’t miss anything and can learn the next step a lot easier.

Competition is everywhere we look, especially for students looking to get into a great college and ensure a better future for themselves in such an unstable economy. Realistically, schools can only go so far in terms of teaching methods and the amount of knowledge they can convey to their classes. Time is limited, funds are even more restricted and the curriculum is determined before a student even step into the classroom for the first time.  Students should never be limited by a school’s idea of what they should learn but should be able to advance on to higher education with as much information and knowledge as possible in order to succeed.

Learning must go beyond the classroom. Creativity! Exploration! Imagination! All of these things can be explored in a tutoring session. Each student has a different way of how they receive knowledge best, so why teach everyone the same? Tutoring uses fun and enjoyable methods for teaching the basic concepts schools need to teach, while not spending an enormous amount of time doing so.

Overall, tutoring can solve numerous issues students need help with. Tutoring early can lead to a great sense of time management, learning how to set priorities and creating their own unique study style. In addition, tutoring allows for every student, no matter his or her level of learning, the capability to achieve his or her dreams.

Knowing all of these amazing benefits, I would choose Adam Wes Academics. They are tutoring for the 21st century. These math tutors do more than help with Algebra homework, they make sure the student knows why they are learning these algorithms and how to use them on a daily basis. They also do science tutoring and test prep. If that isn’t enough, Adam Wes Academics has tutors all over the country. If you want your student to enjoy learning, consider tutoring. There is no better moment then when your child feels successful.

Life With Two Boys Blog Post.

Original Post can be found here

The new school year has just begun and students are already struggling in their classes. Adam Wes Academics offers in-home Science and Math tutoring as well as test prep education to help those students.

About Adam Wes Academics: Professional math tutoring and science tutoring involves a great deal of ingenuity on a number of levels. First, gaining a student’s respect is critical to capturing a young mind’s focus, and generating the motivation that drives substantial learning. Understanding how to discover each and every student’s unique comprehension is infinitely more important than a tutor’s own mastery of math and science. And, knowing how to maneuver a student’s mind to efficiently and genuinely convey any complexity of material, takes the innate, and learned aptitude of an experienced and driven tutor.

We are professional math and science tutors who have helped hundreds of students over the years. Many of our students have achieved success well beyond what they ever thought possible. Numerous students have gone from failing to getting A’s on tests in as little as two sessions. It is not uncommon that one of our incredibly gifted tutors was responsible for a student getting into the college of their choice! Whether you are looking for private tutoring in physics, math, precalculus, calculus, geometry, chemistry, or for standardized tests such as the SAT, GMAT, ISEE, GRE, DAT, CBEST or MCAT, we can help.

Since my boys are still young I don’t have to worry about tutoring yet, but I’m glad to know there’s people out there who care about kids education and are willing to take the time to teach them. I think one-on-one interaction is a lot more helpful for students as opposed to having one teacher for 30 or so students.

Currently Adam Wes Academics offers high quality in-home tutoring in 16 major cities nationwide as well as free online webinars for students across the country. Visit www.adamwes.com to select your subject and location to see if private tutoring is available in your area.

Kidlutions’ Great Review For Adam Wes

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 4:10 pm

Original link can be found HERE along with other great information and products from these talented folks.

WHO NEEDS TUTORING? ADAM WES ACADEMICS ANSWERS THAT QUESTION AND MORE!

Students in many parts of the country are preparing to head back to school, while for others, school has already begun.  A new academic year can bring plenty of challenges…and some struggles, too.  If you’ve ever wondered if your child might benefit from a tutor, listen to what Adam Wes Academics, our guest poster for today,  has to say about it:

Students should not learn from a calculator

In November 2006, Adam Wes Academics was born from an idea: Students should not be learning from a calculator or simply memorizing how to solve each type of problem, rather, students should be solidifying the foundations of a subject and developing a genuine understanding. It seems that our school system prides themselves on test scores and the percentage who actually graduate rather than the comprehensive knowledge of their students.

Classroom size may lead to your student’s demise
It seems as though lectures in classrooms are getting bigger and bigger as the years go on. The philosophy that students learn best in one-on-one environments is not a new concept. Instruction is the crucial factor in focusing academics toward the student’s unique comprehension. A student must fully grasp the foundation of the subjects they are learning to advance properly – but with group lectures and full classrooms, it is hard to ensure students are doing just that. However, while tutoring, a student is immersed in a highly effective environment where the tutor gives full attention to what the student needs to learn and grow.

Make learning fun

Parents may recognize that their child is struggling but not know why. For some reason, society sees education as purely necessary and it is not viewed often as fun or exciting. Living in America, we are extremely lucky that not only is education provided for all children but it is mandatory. Education should be enjoyed and regarded as more than a means to an end; yet for a student who is struggling, this is nearly impossible. Many students see school and educational activities as a burden, but if education is made more appealing, the student’s attitude can shift to a point where he or she can become excited by the idea of learning.

Even students that excel can benefit from tutoring

Tutoring is different for each student. If a student is excelling in math or science, he or she may think tutoring is unnecessary, where in actuality, tutoring can be hugely beneficial because it pushes the student to his or her full potential. How many parents out there hear their child say they were “bored” in school today? It could be an easy fix- challenge them! Learning with the right tutor cultivates a student’s enthusiasm toward education. As parents, its not unknown factor that every moment counts. When there is school, then homework, then football practice, followed by dinner and family time- when is there time for tutoring? When a schedule is that hectic (and let’s face it, for most kids it is) tutoring becomes even more important because it substantially cuts down the time needed to master a given concept. Adam Wes believes that his students’ time is their most valuable commodity – utilizing it efficiently is critical to the edge that a student needs to succeed in our competitive world.

School is starting back up which means it is a hectic time for parents and students alike. When stocking up for the new school year, consider adding tutoring to the shopping list. It could very well turn out to be the best thing purchased for your child’s education.

Thank you Layer of Learning for an Amazing Review

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 7:07 pm

Original link and more on their amazing blog can be found here

At Layers of Learning we believe that the most effective and efficient way for a child to learn is in a one-on-one environment.  Adam Wes Academics believes the same thing.  There are great teachers and great homeschool parents but sometimes our kids need an expert and that’s where Adam Wes comes in offering high-quality academic tutoring for math, science and test-prep, subjects a lot of parents find intimidating.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but education is well into making a complete paradigm shift in approach.  We’re getting more one-on-one, we’re rejecting many methods of the last century, we’re getting back to the basics, we’re going online and virtual.  All these things will bring education right back to the control of the student and parents.  These things will make education more thorough, more responsive to the needs of the student, and less expensive.  Tutoring is part of that paradigm shift.  Not that tutoring is new, but parents using tutoring services not just for failing kids, but as an approach to education will become more mainstream.

Here’s what Adam Wes has to say about the way we approach education:

Let’s change the way society looks at education: We should strive to embrace the notion that expanding one’s knowledge is fundamentally gratifying! Above all, education should be enjoyed and regarded as more than a means to an end; yet for a student who is struggling, this is nearly impossible. Many students see school and educational activities as a burden, but if education is made more appealing, the student’s attitude can shift to a point where he or she can become excited by the idea of learning.

So who might be a candidate for tutoring?  Certainly kids who are struggling and who just don’t get it.  Kids often are left feeling that they’re not smart or that they just don’t have a “math brain” when the reality is that they were taught poorly at some stage in their mathematical background.  Students get hurried on from one concept to another racing to keep up with the median instead of gaining a firm foundation.  Text books and teachers, even those who really get math, don’t always speak the students language.  These kids need tutors who can teach them whole new ways of thinking about difficult concepts.

There are others for whom a tutor could produce amazing results: the kids who excel at math.  These kids can progress so much faster and gain much more profound knowledge than they would ever get slogging through with their class-mates. One-on-one learning has always been the standard choice of the truly well educated in this world.

Keep Adam Wes Academics in mind this fall as you plan your child’s education.  They not only provide a person to do your kids homework with them, but they provide engaging, intelligent, and natural teachers in the hardest of the school subjects and all trained in the Adam Wes method, so you know what you’re getting.

My only complaint, they’re confined to a few of the largest urban areas in the US.  Let’s hope they meet their goals of changing the face of education and expand into the rest of the country.

This Is The Tutor Your Student Needs- from Family First

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 3:00 pm

THIS ARTICLE CAN ORIGINALLY BE FOUND HERE.

Your child’s new schedule is coming out this month – any areas you’re worried about?

If you live in any of the 16 cities that Adam Wes Academics is located, you’re in luck! Wes’s approach is revolutionary for tutoring on those extra tough subjects of math and science and for preparing for the most common standardized tests. If not, don’t despair, he has plans for virtual tutoring in the near future. He currently tutors an international family via Skype.

Wes, himself an experienced tutor, has worked very hard to develop a tutoring methodology that builds from student’s most basic understanding and grows their knowledge at their own pace.

One of these processes, his proprietary Progressive Dynamic Response, edifies the student’s learning so much better than simply asking “Do you understand?” – Wes notes how does the student know if he or she understands?

He tells a story of a student he tutored who was studying pre-Calculus but, for some reason, she had never grasped the concept of percentages. In order to progress in her preparation for the ACT exam, Wes had to step back to the basics of percentages and build upon what his student did understand.

“We are so lucky to have found Adam Wes Academics. With our tutor’s committed, creative and engaging personality, Mitchell’s grades raised from a D to a B+ in physics and from a C to an A in pre-calculus in just six weeks. He was truly a great tutor for my son,” according to a mother’s testimonial from his website.

Wes explains to Family First that tutoring is finding the “personal reality of each student.” He says no one brushes their teeth exactly the same way, but either way, they get their teeth clean. As a tutor, he must probe to find out what reality is for each student in the subject they are studying.

This extremely thorough methodology for teaching requires flexibility for the tutor. Wes says, out of 6,000 applicants to be tutors, he only hired 2% of those applicants. He says his tutors must demonstrate not just mastery of the material they’ll be teaching but also motivation and flexibility.

He assesses the success of a tutor by how many times he or she is asked back by clients. Unlike many tutoring companies, his business model doesn’t stress package buying of sessions because he wants to make absolutely sure students and parents are completely satisfied with the results of each session.

Wes says tutoring isn’t simply doing time with a tutor. The students need to have an attitude of learning and a commitment to getting better at the subject they are studying. While not allstudents arrive with these components, Wes says he and his tutors work very hard to change that attitude by making learning fun and interesting for students.

The World Of Adam Wes Academics!

Filed under: Uncategorized — adamwes @ 6:22 pm

Innovating Academic Tutoring:

Summary: Introducing The Adam Wes Method- Tutoring for the 21st Century.  Adam Wes Academics is changing the way that society looks at learning- here’s how!

Who Is Adam Wes?

Adam Wes is not your average math and science enthusiast. Wes was born in 1983, in South Africa, where his family taught him the value of education from a young age. Early on, Wes was able to identify that schools often lacked the resources to direct information in a manner that fit each student.  As a result, Wes began forming the preliminary structure of a hands-on, personalized approach to absorbing educational concepts.

For Wes, if a problem was hard, he found a new way to solve it.  He understood that math is a cumulative topic needing layers of comprehension, rather than a subject to be approached with blindly applied techniques.  For many students, if a problem is hard they give up- if only because there are few available avenues for individualized help.  Adam Wes observes that, “In our experience, 95% of students come into tutoring assuming they are doing poorly because they lack the natural capacity for mathematics – that their ‘brain just doesn’t work that way.’  On the contrary, most students simply lack a foundation and necessary guidance.”

What is Adam Wes Academics All About?

In November 2006, Adam Wes Academics was born from an idea: Students should not be learning from a calculator or simply memorizing how to solve each type of problem, rather, students should be solidifying the foundations of a subject and developing a genuine understanding.  At a glance, tutoring may seem to be an unnecessary burden – managing schedules is daunting, and financial considerations must be weighed.  Wes says this, “If you don’t have time for a tutor, you are the very person that needs a tutor because tutoring saves time!”

Whether it be the over-exerted public school system, a private school, or a university lecture hall; it is exceedingly difficult to get that one-on-one attention from a teacher when the student is one of many.  However, while tutoring, a student is immersed in a highly effective environment where the tutor gives full attention to what the student needs to learn and grow.

Adam Wes’ values can be boiled down to a single truism: Education is the most influential factor to an individual’s well being and society’s prosperity.  Virtual environments and advances in software technology are changing the way education can be delivered.  Wes believes that the current trend of people interacting via the Internet will initiate a parallel Internet-based trend in education, because interactions between people are at the core of learning.  Adam Wes Academics is developing foundations to be a part of this exciting era of educational revolution.

Tutoring: Why is it critical to ANY student’s success?

Tutoring is different for each student. If a student is excelling in math or science, he or she may think tutoring is unnecessary, where in actuality, tutoring can be hugely beneficial because it pushes the student to his or her full potential. Learning with the right tutor cultivates a student’s enthusiasm toward education.  Every moment counts, whether it be kids busy with sports, activities, and mounds and mounds of homework, or graduate students managing full schedules while preparing for exams.  Tutoring optimizes the learning process, substantially cutting down the time needed to master a given concept.  Adam Wes believes that his students’ time is their most valuable commodity – utilizing it efficiently is critical to the edge that a student needs to succeed in our competitive world.

Tutoring in the 21st Century!

Tutors are no longer the retired teachers circulating around your school district.  Adam Wes has tutors all over the country that commit to making sure every student learns the necessary concepts before moving on.  So, how might the world change if every tutor was hired based on the standards of Adam Wes Academics?

Personality: While someone may explain a concept with full comprehension, they may not be able to keep the student’s attention or interest – a tutor must be engaging in order to be accepted into Adam Wes Academics.

Academic Proficiency: Adam Wes tutors are taken through rigorous testing to ensure only the top 2% of applicants are chosen to work with the company.  That means each student is getting the best of the best every time they sign up with a tutor.

Teaching Ability: All tutors must have a natural capacity for explanation.  Someone could know everything there is to know about a subject, but if they cannot explain it in an effective manner, they cannot be an effective tutor.

Commitment: Commitment to students is essential. Tutors will travel to any location a student may need and will commit 100% of their focus every time they teach.
